Graduate student health

I’m a freelancer, living in Los Angeles, California. My life is hectic and my schedule even worse! I make it a point to make time for myself, as difficult as that might be, so I’m always looking for ways to improve my quality of health and life. This includes educating myself about anything I put into my body. When searching for info on migraine medication, I found this great article on prescription versus generic drugs at a website called toddshealthinsurance.com.
While at the site, I checked out the other articles and am very impressed with all of the health care and insurance-related content. It’s even geared towards those of us who live in Southern California! Also, everything is written in a very easy-going, personal style.

The fact is, when you apply for an individual health insurance policy in California, you have to go through medical underwriting, unlike group health insurance policies. Therefore, you could be declined for health care for a number of reasons including the above mentioned.

I have been a health insurance agent in Southern California, Los Angeles region for over 16 years. I always advise my clients that if you currently have health insurance, even if you’re not happy with the plan, or think you’re paying too much, DO NOT cancel your current coverage until you’ve been approved for a new plan! Just because you were approved before, your health could have changed since the original application was submitted and therefore there is no guarantee you will be approved again.

If you are declined, we will go over your options at that time. Based on the reason for decline, we could appeal the decision, or simply apply to another carrier in Southern California. Since most carriers use similar underwriting guidelines, we will want to address the health issue or issues in question to give you the best possible chance of a favorable outcome next time around.
